The Impact of National Identity on Building Political Stability in Libya After 2011

This study aimed to analyze the impact of national identity on political stability in Libya after 2011. The research focuses on the relationship between changes in national identity and the political and social divisions following the Libyan revolution, emphasizing sub-national identities (tribal, regional, and ideological) and their effects on state legitimacy and stability. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, using a historical method and a case study of Libya, along with analysis of political documents and discourse. The findings indicate that the weakness of a unified national identity contributed to deepening political divisions, weakening state institutions, and increasing armed conflicts. The study also shows that strengthening a comprehensive national identity through national reconciliation, constitutional reforms, and educational initiatives is essential for achieving sustainable political stability in Libya. The study recommends drafting a consensual constitution, reforming the educational system to enhance national belonging, supporting national reconciliation programs, regulating media discourse to promote.
