PP-25 Exploring perspectives on palliative and supportive care, to inform recommendations to help people live well with inflammatory arthritis throughout the disease course

<h3>Introduction</h3> Two types of support may be offered to those living with a chronic, potentially life limiting condition: (i) Supportive care, provided soon after diagnosis to help maximise treatment benefits, inform future care choices, and enable people to live as well as possible with the condition;¹ and (ii) Palliative Care (PC), focused on maximising quality of life and supporting patients and their families in the last 1000 days of life. Both approaches address physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cultural needs through teams of healthcare professionals (HCPs) People living with inflammatory arthritis (IA) experience ongoing pain and other symptoms which Impact daily functioning and emotional well-being. They may benefit from supportive and palliative care (SPC); however, these services are not well developed for IA. <h3>Aims</h3> To explore the potential role of SPC for people with IA and develop clinical and research recommendations to help them live well throughout the disease course. <h3>Methods</h3> Three studies will be conducted: Interviews with 15-30 individuals with IA to understand how they perceive SPC and how this may help them to live well. Online survey of 50 HCPs, to understand current collaborative practices and their views on how SPC may support people with IA to live well. Four focus groups with volunteers from Studies 1 and 2, representatives from relevant national organisations, and health commissioners. Study 1 data will be thematically analysed.² Study 2 data will be analysed descriptively. <h3>Results</h3> Results from Study 1 and 2 will be brought together at Study 3. The focus groups will inform an iterative process to develop recommendations for future clinical practice and research. <h3>Conclusion</h3> Final recommendations will be disseminated widely via relevant websites, podcasts, articles and scientific papers. <h3>Impact</h3> This work will generate evidence-based recommendations to inform future clinical practice and research in SPC for IA. <h3>References</h3> Cramp F, Bennett MI.
