How Can Children’s Handmade Humanoid Figures Come to Life in the Digital World?

For children, “making” is a fundamental form of expression that supports creativity, communication, and social development. With the advancement of digital technology, creative activities are extending beyond physical materials into digital spaces. This study explores how children’s handmade humanoid figures can be animated in a digital space. We developed and optimized our process bridging analog making and digital creations, consisting of three main stages: making, 3D scanning and modeling, and animating. Using photogrammetry and 3D software, we optimized the process to streamline the workflow, enhance efficiency, and produce stable and natural animations. The system enables children to observe how their figures come to life digitally, providing both enjoyment and understanding of media art. This approach has potential applications in human guidance, educational workshops, and child-centered digital experiences that integrate creativity with technology.
