Evaluation of the effectiveness of microneedle mesotherapy and supplementation with saw palmetto fruit extract in the treatment of female androgenetic alopecia. Case study

Introduction: Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is one of the most common disorders in trichology. Microneedle mesotherapy is considered an effective method of stimulating skin regeneration processes and improving blood supply to hair follicles. Aim: The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of microneedle mesotherapy and supplementation with saw palmetto fruit extract in the treatment of female androgenetic alopecia. Materials and methods: The study involved a 38-year-old woman with symptoms of female androgenetic alopecia. A series of ten microneedle mesotherapy treatments was performed using a preparation containing amino acids, B vitamins, and zinc. At the same time, supplementation with saw palmetto fruit extract was recommended. The effectiveness of the therapy was assessed on the basis of clinical observation and photographic documentation. Results: After completing the therapeutic cycle, an increase in hair density in the parting and receding hairline areas, a reduction in scalp oiliness, and an improvement in hair structure were observed. The woman reported no adverse effects. Conclusions: The results obtained indicate scalp regeneration and improvement in hair condition as a result of the action of growth factors induced by microneedling.
