Gender-wise Analysis of Income Tax Awareness among School Teachers

The study attempted to know the gender wise awareness of school teachers regarding different provisions of income tax act and awareness about tax planning instruments available under chapter VI A. 377 school teachers selected by applying proportionate sampling method from 11 blocks of Satara district. Descriptive statistics used to analyze the data collected through structured questionnaire. Study revealed that teachers are significantly more aware about provisions/ terms used under income tax and they also more aware about tax saving instruments. Further, the data indicates that gender does not play a significant role in awareness of income tax provisions and tax-saving instruments under the sections of 80C to 80U, pointing to uniformity in financial literacy across genders for tax saving instruments.
