<i>Mathapalooza</i> : A Community Program of Mathematical Play

Abstract The focus of Mathapalooza is sparking people’s enjoyment of mathematics in communities by engaging them in mathematical play experiences. We believe that play is a fundamental part of the experience of mathematics, and thus, we engage people of all ages through toys, games, and puzzles in a safe, cooperative, and creative manner during field trips, career jumping events, and a mathematical playground. In this chapter, we explain the implementation of our mathematical play events, share our insights gained through the years, and provide guidance on how readers can create their own Mathapalooza event.
