The more oil and gas operators drill, the more information is collected. When it comes to planning, more history, more experience, and more data should intuitively provide a valuable archive of critical information, enabling well plans to be designed more easily and ensuring operational efficiency and improved safety, with a focus on sustainability. However, paradoxically, the more information is accumulated, the bigger challenge it becomes to access all this corporate knowledge in a format conducive to efficient planning and execution. Over time, data may be archived in a variety of historians, transmitted using a variety of protocols, and stored in a plethora of databases.
