Understanding road safety: a literature review and recommendations for City of Doncaster Council

This systematic review gathers evidence around public perceptions of road safety and the impact of public health interventions, with the aim of supporting the City of Doncaster Council (CDC)'s development of a new Road Safety Strategy for the city. Thematic analysis identified sources of road safety knowledge, existing knowledge and perceptions of road safety, demographic factors and individual differences influencing road safety, barriers and facilitators to behaviour change, and strategies for improving road safety. Based on these findings, four recommendations are also made and intend to support CDC's creation and implementation of the road safety strategy.
