Due casi di malformazioni cavernose cerebrali

Cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) are vascular lesions that in children often present with diverse and misleading symptoms. This report examines two clinical scenarios: the case of a 12-year-old boy with progressive headache and that of an 11-year-old boy with a focal seizure. In both patients, MRI showed multiple cavernomas with evidence of bleeding, leading to neurosurgical intervention in the first case and antiepileptic therapy in the second. Familial forms, linked to specific genetic mutations, account for 20-25% of cases and are generally more severe. These cases underscore the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach and high clinical suspicion when evaluating common neurological symptoms to uncover silent underlying vascular pathologies.
