Navigating Digital Transformation in the Nordics:Opportunities and Challenges

This case examines the digital transformation journey of a large Nordic insurance and financial services company. The case highlights the strategic, technological, and human complexities of large-scale change in a highly regulated industry. From the perspective of a business analyst tasked with advising executive management, this analysis explores how accumulated technical debt, legacy IT systems, and vendor dependence constrained operational efficiency, slowed innovation, and influenced strategic decision-making across markets. The case further analyzes leadership and governance in a cross-border transformation context, where differing market positions, funding priorities, and organizational cultures between the Danish and Swedish divisions shaped perceptions of urgency, accountability, and success.
