Uranium-Powered Laser Gun for Space Exploration and Military Defence Applications

ABSTRACT: OFFICIAL RECORD of THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA PPA No.[63/780,452] FILLED ON[03/30/2025] This paper discloses a novel architecture for a compact, autonomous Nuclear-Pumped Laser (NPL) system utilizing a miniaturized uranium-based thermoelectric generator (TEG). While traditional Directed Energy Weapons (DEWs) are limited by the energy density of chemical batteries or the intermittency of solar arrays, this system leverages a solid-state uranium core to provide high-density, continuous thermal energy. Through integrated thermoelectric conversion, this heat is transformed into regulated electrical power for a high-intensity solid-state laser medium. The design specifically addresses the critical challenges of deep-space operations- including energy independence in low-solar environments and long-duration mission readiness. Key engineering innovations include a specialized high-efficiency cooling manifold and multi- layered radiation shielding optimized for both operator safety and component longevity in extreme orbital conditions. This research provides a scalable framework for localized nuclear- photonic power, offering a robust solution for space debris mitigation, satellite defence, and the energy requirements of deep-space exploration.
