High‐performance Fiber Paper‐based Functional Materials

This chapter introduces the characteristics of high-performance fiber, such as aramid fiber, polyamide fiber, glass fiber, and carbon fiber, and its applications in specialty paper. First, the classification and characteristics of high-performance fiber are introduced. Then, the challenges of manufacturing high-performance fiber papers are discussed, and some common technologies for producing these functional materials, including differential fiber preparation, fiber dispersion, paper forming, and strengthening, are presented. Then, this chapter further introduces typical high-performance fiber-based functional paper materials, highlighting their unique characteristics and applications in electrical insulation, honeycomb core materials, and high-temperature resistance. Ultimately, it underscores the growing importance of these materials in meeting the strategic needs of various sectors and their potential for future development.
