C3 Configuration Broadly Tunable MQW InGaAsP/InP Laser Diode Device

Cleaved coupled cavity (C3) laser diode configuration is used as another way of continuous tuning of broadly tunable 1550 nm type devices. The uncoated Fabry–Pérot resonator with two section current tuning mechanism is reported in this paper. Two section current tuning mechanism gives much faster tuning ability compared to MEMS or external cavity tunable lasers. The measured line width of this device found to be below 1 MHz while a wavelength stitching method is de-scribed to cover the whole tuning range of 127 nm of the tuning spectrum of the C3 Broadly Tunable MQW InGaAsP/InP device.
