Mem-Nano-Bit (MNB): A Thermodynamic Framework for Verifiable Cognitive Memory Units

We introduce the Mem-Nano-Bit (MNB), a novel fundamental unit for representing verifiable cognitive memory in informational organisms. Unlike classical bits, Shannon bits, or qubits, the MNB incorporates semantic coherence (Ψ), thermodynamic cost (C), temporal persistence (τ), and cryptographic verification (h) as intrinsic properties. We formalize the MNB as a 5-tuple m = (e, Ψ, C, τ, h) and derive the master equation governing the dynamics of MNB populations within cognitive systems. Our framework introduces the concepts of informational pruning, autopoietic regeneration, and value density ρ = Ψ·τ/C as selection criteria for memory survival. The MNB paradigm establishes the theoretical foundation for engineering informational organisms—autonomous systems capable of self-governance, memory verification, and adaptive evolution. This work opens a new scientific domain: informational thermodynamics of cognition.
