The cheek is a complex anatomical area, with several multifaceted implications, dealing with otorhinolaryngology, dentistry, dermatology, esthetic medicine, and surgery. In this review we first illustrate the appropriate ultrasound examination technique, providing some specific tips. Then we describe the ultrasound anatomy of the cheek. Subsequently we provide a systematic clinical and sonographic approach to the issue of cheek bump. Then we mention the key abnormalities of the cheek, including inflammatory processes, vascular abnormalities, cysts, tumors, esthetics, and miscellaneous abnormalities. Finally we emphasize the role of ultrasound guidance for diagnostic and therapeutic percutaneous procedures.
