Safety of Dangerous Goods Transport by Rail in the Czech Republic

The safety of the transport of dangerous goods by rail in the Czech Republic is discussed from the view of binding legal standards. Specific data on this dangerous transport are presented according to available statistics. The next section presents basic software modelling tools. Using the TerEx SW, many specific cases of accidental releases and modelling of the resulting dangerous consequences are presented. Surprisingly, the competent state authorities do not have any SW modelling tools for evaluating serious accidental releases. The authors of the professional contribution present their own set of proposals for increasing the safety of the transport of dangerous goods by rail.
