As president of the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) Board of Directors, I am honored to share my vision for how Excellence and Credentialing in Health Care will serve as a vital instrument in advancing CCI’s mission and supporting lifelong learning across the health care environment. Our certificants lead the profession by upholding the highest standards of perioperative nursing practice. We hope that this inaugural journal will become a trusted resource that not only informs but also empowers health care providers to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment. Educational excellence: The journal will provide evidence-based articles that translate research into practical strategies, ensuring that our certificants remain leaders in patient safety and quality care. Career advancement: The journal will highlight pathways for lifelong learning and certification, reinforcing the value of credentialing as a foundation for professional growth. Community and connection: The journal will showcase the diverse experiences of health care certificants to cultivate a shared identity and pride, strengthening the bonds within our professional community. The mission of CCI is to grow a community of certificants and lifelong learners for whom we are a catalyst and integral partner. The journal is uniquely positioned to amplify this mission by: Elevating standards by providing content that reinforces the rigor and credibility of certification and its impact on patient outcomes and health care systems. Driving innovation by fostering dialogue on emerging technologies, clinical practice techniques, and evolving competencies that shape the future of multidisciplinary care. Advocating for recognition by highlighting the contributions of certificants and strengthening the visibility and influence of CCI across the health care landscape. I envision this journal as a dynamic hub for knowledge exchange—where individuals not only access information but also contribute to it. By inviting submissions from practitioners, educators, and researchers, we will create a cycle of shared expertise that enriches the entire health care community. In this way, Excellence and Credentialing in Health Care will become more than a publication; it will become a living embodiment of CCI’s mission. It will inspire certificants to pursue excellence, equip them to meet today’s challenges, and prepare them to lead the innovations of tomorrow. Together, we will ensure that our journal reflects the dedication, expertise, and leadership of certificants while advancing the credibility and impact of CCI. This is our commitment—to elevate competency, support credentialing, and strengthen the health care environment for generations to come.
