Abstract of the publicationThe isotope investigations of glaciers and other components of the water cycle are a cornerstone of contemporary climate science and environmental research. These studies improve knowledge on both past and present climate conditions, hydrological processes, ice dynamics, and broader environmental changes. However, high-quality data from the rapidly vanishing "micro-glaciers" of the southeastern Alps remain rare. This paper presents a comprehensive stable isotope dataset (δ18O, δ2H, and δ17O) derived from ice cores extracted from the last two glacial remnants in Slovenia: the Triglav Glacier and the Skuta Glacier. As these low-altitude ice bodies face imminent extinction, capturing their isotopic signature is urgent. To ensure data robustness, samples were analysed across four independent laboratories (JSI, ATOMKI, IAEA, and AGH). We report the results of a rigorous inter-laboratory comparison using non-parametric statistical methods, including Brunner–Munzel tests and bootstrap resampling. The analysis confirms the statistical equivalence and high reproducibility of the measurements across all participating institutions. This dataset provides a verified, permanent archive of the isotopic memory of these disappearing cryosphere features, offering a valuable resource for hydrological modelling and climate reconstruction in the Mediterranean-Alpine transition zone.
