Hydrothermally Synthesized Mn ₂ V ₂ O ₇ Nanopebble-Decorated ZIF-67: A Promising Cathode Material for Energy Storage Applications

Metal–organic framework (MOF) based electrodes typically are very good at holding energy and have low electrical conductivity limitations. Studies on redox additive electrolytes (RAEs) have been explored to further enhance the electrochemical characteristics and scale up. Additionally, additives make a Faradaic charge storage mechanism possible, increasing energy density and capacitance while also enhancing stability and rate capability. In the present study, a novel Mn2V2O7@ZIF-67 nanocomposite has been synthesized, and its electrochemical properties were studied in KOH and RAE. The synthesized Mn2V2O7@ZIF-67 composite material shows a polyhedral morphology. In the three-electrode system, the specific capacitances are determined to be 687.4 and 265.2 F/g for RAE and KOH electrolytes, respectively, and a capacitance retention was 90.21% after 10,000 GCD cycles in RAE. The fabricated Mn2V2O7@ZIF-67//AC demonstrates 92.56% capacity retention after 10,000 GCD cycles with a specific capacitance of 62.65 F/g. The Rs values of the fabricated device are 1.88 Ω before and 1.97 Ω after GCD cycles.
