Abstract

Background:The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) classification has been used to describe the performance status of cancer patients since the 1980s.The ECOG score is used, for example, to assess whether a patient could benefit from active cancer treatment.The physician's ECOG assessment is based on a short appointment and random questions, and it has significant situational variability.In this research, we studied a smartphone application that was designed to collect step data, quality of life, and symptom information to improve the reliability of the ECOG assessment.
