Combined DRIFTS-PDF measurements on Sr-based catalysts

The goal is to improve our understanding of the carbonation, hydration, and regeneration reactions within the strontium oxide - strontium carbonate (SrO-SrCO3) system. This knowledge is crucial for the development SrO-based materials for the direct air capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide (CO2). In situ X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) coupled with diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy will provide unique insights into the atomic and molecular transformations that occur during the hydration and carbonation of SrO at ambient temperature.
