CONTEMPORARY INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LAW: PROBLEMS AND WAYS OF IMPROVEMENT

This publication examines the current norms of international environmental law and analyzes key international legal acts regulating environmental protection issues. The purpose of the work is to identify current issues and develop proposals for improving international legal institutions in the field of ecology. A systematic approach was used using a comparative analysis of international treaties and the practices of individual States, which made it possible to identify contradictions and gaps in legislative regulation. The main difficulties include the inconsistency of regulatory provisions, the heterogeneity of state interests, and the limitations of existing control and liability procedures. Based on the data obtained, recommendations have been formulated on the harmonization of international standards with national systems, improvement of monitoring the fulfillment of environmental obligations and the development of financial instruments to support environmental projects. The practical significance lies in the possibility of applying the proposed measures to form a sustainable system of international environmental regulation and ensure global environmental safety.
