Upgrades to the TRIUMF Fast Ion Counter, TRIFIC

Abstract TRIFIC, the TRIUMF Fast Ion Counter, is a downstream ionization chamber which provides beam composition monitoring and recoil tagging for in-beam reaction experiments. TRIFIC has been commissioned and deployed for use with radioactive isotope beams at the TRIUMF-ISAC facility. Recently, the detector has been upgraded to include an improved gas window that can accommodate higher beam rates and position-sensitive electrode grids for better position reconstruction.
