Coherence vs Control: A Conceptual Multi-Agent Influence Framework for Indirect Power Dynamics

This paper introduces a conceptual framework for modeling indirect power dynamics in multi-agent systems through the lens of coherence and control. The model describes an asymmetric interaction between two archetypal forces: a control-oriented agent capable of direct influence and a coherence-oriented agent limited to indirect, relational influence. Rather than relying on direct opposition, the system evolves through modifications of internal states within functional agents representing societal roles. These agents are characterized by variables such as fear, dependency, clarity, and trust. The framework explores how systemic stability may arise either through centralized control or through distributed coherence. A minimal tabletop implementation is provided as a demonstrative model. The framework is intended for exploratory, educational, and simulation purposes, and is presented at a high level without operational or optimization details.
