Learning outcomes The learning outcomes are as follows: Case overview/synopsis Breakfast Solutions was in the healthy food business by catering to customized dietary requirements. Triggered by the personal goal to stay healthy and to help the others stay so, the founder Neel Sengupta’s business evolved organically from individual diet consultation to selling food packets to the health-conscious customers, from supplying healthy foods health enthusiasts to consulting niche audience of patients on doctors’ recommendation. After a brief stint with setting up a retail counter that was being wiped off by the Covid-pandemic, the company is battling a dip in its sales and is looking for avenues to stabilize and expand itself through exploring growth pathways. The company has an option of continuing with the current cloud kitchen model or to restart a physical restaurant alongside the cloud kitchen. This case examines the development and evolution of the company’s business model and poses the question of what should be the next step for Breakfast Solutions now that the founder has a sum of ₹30,00,000 which he could invest in the scaling up. Complexity academic level This case is designed to teach the small business management, entrepreneurship and strategy. The target participants are MBA students specializing in strategy, as well as middle- and senior-level managers from the industry in an executive program in management science.
