Enhanced skin aging following insulin resistance: pathogenetic mechanisms of comorbidity and efficacy of therapeutic physical factors

This review analyzes the main systemic mechanisms of syntropic influence of insulin resistance on enhanced skin aging and potential for therapeutic physical factors (whole body cryotherapy, transcranial magnetic therapy, and intravenous laser irradiation) to correct pathological processes determining phenotypic manifestations of premature aging. Insulin resistance is not simply a metabolic disorder, but a powerful systemic driver determining premature skin and body aging due to pathogenetic vicious circles of comorbidity. Physiotherapeutic interventions represent a pathogenetically sound and promising tool for correcting skin manifestations and underlying metabolic disorders. Thanks to certain effects (improved microcirculation and nutrition, stimulation of collagen and elastin synthesis, modulation of local and systemic inflammation, and increased tissue sensitivity to insulin), therapeutic physical factors can influence key components of this process. Integration of physiotherapy methods into comprehensive patient management programs for enhanced skin aging due to insulin resistance is an effective therapeutic strategy opening up opportunities for personalized interventions aimed at maintaining metabolic and aesthetic health.
