Modular interactive neuro-rehabilitation support board for neurological care: A nursing design perspective for adult, pediatric, and maternal patients

Neurological disorders represent a major global health burden, contributing significantly to disability, longterm functional limitations, and reduced quality of life. Neuro-rehabilitation interventions are essential for restoring motor function, cognitive capacity, and independence among affected individuals. Nurses play a central role in neurological rehabilitation because they provide continuous bedside care, monitor patient recovery, guide therapeutic exercises, and support psychosocial adaptation. Recent technological innovations have improved rehabilitation outcomes. However, many existing technologies remain expensive and inaccessible in low-resource healthcare settings. The concept of a Modular Interactive Neuro-Rehabilitation Support Board is proposed as a cost-effective nursing design innovation that integrates motor training, sensory stimulation, cognitive engagement, and visual coordination exercises into a single modular system. This article explores the theoretical basis, design structure, clinical applications, and nursing implications of the proposed rehabilitation board. The system is designed to support rehabilitation among adult neurological patients, children with neurodevelopmental conditions, and maternal patients experiencing neurological complications. The modular design allows nurses to customize therapeutic activities based on patient needs, neurological conditions, and functional abilities. By integrating interactive rehabilitation tools into routine nursing care, patient engagement and therapy adherence can be enhanced.
