Reading comprehension is a key component of the General Foundation Program (GFP), yet many English learners struggle with IELTS-style reading tasks that require speed, accuracy, and strategic thinking. This study introduces PollNow , a data-driven polling system designed to enhance reading practice through real-time interaction, gamification, and performance analytics. The system was implemented in GFP English classes as a classroom-based instructional intervention to support interactive reading activities. Participants were GFP English learners enrolled at a university foundation program. During reading sessions, students responded to comprehension questions using the PollNow platform, which enabled instant submission and real-time feedback. The system automatically collected performance data, including response accuracy, response time, and leaderboard rankings. These data were analyzed comparatively to monitor learner progress, engagement, and comprehension development over the semester. Findings indicate that the integration of PollNow increased student participation and motivation during IELTS-style reading activities. Immediate feedback and gamified features encouraged active engagement, while the data dashboards allowed instructors to identify learning gaps and adjust instruction accordingly. Performance data also showed improvement in reading comprehension scores across the study period. Finally, the results suggest that PollNow is an effective digital tool for enhancing reading engagement and performance in GFP English classrooms. By combining interactive polling with learning analytics, the platform supports data-informed teaching and promotes more dynamic and responsive reading instruction.
