Research on surface topography measurement technology based on polarized structured light

With the development of the aviation industry, the safety and reliability of aircraft and their engines have received increasing attention. Given the significant impact of surface defects on aircraft and engines, a high-precision measuring instrument that can be used on-site in components and can instantly measure the surface micro-topography and quickly assess parameters such as the size of minor defects is needed. This study designed a sinusoidal polarization structured light measurement system, which achieved high-precision reconstruction of the object's surface topography. Through experiments using a 30mm diameter cylinder and surface measurement tools, it was verified that it can reflect the surface topography of the object, and the measurement error of surface features is around 200 micrometers. This paper not only proves the feasibility of this method in microscopic topography measurement, but also the test results indicate that further improvement of the test accuracy requires solving the problems of the system's reflection of material and gamma non-linearity errors.
