Monitoring of the brown bear (Ursus arctos) in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve

The paper highlights some of the results of monitoring of the brown bear in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. The monitoring methods used in the reserve are described, in particular, the SMART patrol and monitoring system, camera traps, a comprehensive database. The damage that bears cause to beekeeping is described. To mitigate the relationship between a bear and a person, it is recommended to use electric fences to protect apiaries and livestock.
