Concise Review on AI in Higher Education

<p>A great many opportunities are offered to educational institutions integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into higher education (HE). This concise review presents the significance of AI in HE, highlighting the significant applications of personalized learning environments and intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs). The review was conducted by gathering data from peer-reviewed studies published between 2016 and 2023 available on the renowned databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. This review suggested that AI regulations are required to expand moral implications when using AI in HE to ensure successful integration of technology, limiting bias and privacy issues. Additionally, the inclusion of gamified features helps maintain the quality of student discussions, enforce critical thinking, and facilitate interactions between instructors and students. It has also been identified that chatbots can analyze students’ writing and conversations, recommend materials to serve specific learning needs, generate practice questions, and provide instant feedback. </p>
