A robust RFID protocol in security for access control systems

This article presents a binary search tree (BST) based security protocol aimed at enhancing the robustness of RFID technology. The BST method, historically utilized in Morse code systems during World War II, is adapted to improve security in RFID systems by dynamically altering the block data of RFID cards. This dynamic data modification increases security by minimizing the risk of unauthorized access and strengthens the robustness of the system. The protocol also enables custom key node changes, reducing the risks of system failure risks and enhancing traceability of issues. Performance evaluations, included its strength via brute force approach and efficiency via processing time tests, demonstrate the advantages of the protocol over the classic MIFARE card authentication method. Additionally, the protocol ensures cryptographic robustness by emphasizing variation and uniqueness, producing secure and distinct ciphertext. Cryptographic results are documented for future use and included as part of the research. This study highlights the BST-based approach as a robust, reliable, and scalable solution for advancing RFID security systems.
