Conservation of tropical and subtropical marine-freshwater migrants for ecosystem services

Diadromous marine-freshwater migrants contribute to vital ecosystem services. Yet, species in tropical and subtropical latitudes remain understudied and are threatened by dams and their ineffective management. Safeguarding ecosystem-service provision requires enhanced recognition of the need to maintain marine-freshwater connectivity and the immediate implementation of management and policy interventions.
