Anthranilic Diamides: Chlorantraniliprole and Cyantraniliprole

The anthranilic diamide insecticides, chlorantraniliprole (Rynaxypyr) and cyantraniliprole (Cyazypyr®) provide outstanding control of lepidopteran pests with the latter controlling a broader pest complex. Products are amenable to foliar, soil, and seed application. In addition to crop protection, chlorantraniliprole has excellent utility in adjacent markets including turf, ornamentals, and home and industrial sectors. Anthranilic diamides are ryanodine receptor (RyR) modulators (IRAC main group 28), activating the RyR upon binding to a site distinct from that of ryanodine. Both chlorantraniliprole and cyantraniliprole exhibit outstanding selectivity for insect over mammalian RyRs which contributes to their mammalian safety. In addition, their ecotoxicological profiles are favorable to beneficial arthropods.
