Homogentisate Solanesyltransferase ( <scp>HST</scp> ) Inhibitors: Cyclopyrimorate

Cyclopyrimorate, invented by Mitsui Chemicals Crop and Life Solutions, Inc., is a novel bleaching herbicide that is effective against a wide range of rice weeds, including biotypes resistant to acetolactate synthase inhibitors. The compound was discovered through structural modifications of a lead compound, which was designed using partial substructures of pyridazine herbicides, credazine, and pyridafol. The target site of cyclopyrimorate was found to be homogentisate solanesyltransferase, a novel target site. Therefore, cyclopyrimorate offers a new strategy for managing herbicide resistance.
