Qualification Testing Of The 110 Kv Superlink To Iec 63075

The SuperLink project aims to develop an attractive cable solution to transport 500 MW of power at the rated 110 kV level in an urban environment. The goals are low losses, reliable electrical insulation and a small physical footprint. The testing standard, IEC 63075, was issued in 2019 and acts as a reference for the testing procedures required to qualify this cable solution for operation in the electrical grid. This article presents our results and procedures for the HV type test, auxiliary sample testing of the conductor and cryostat, the mandatory installation testing and routine testing carried out within the SuperLink Demonstration project. The end result is a 150 m demo system operating for 6 months in a 380kV/110kV substation of the SWM grid in Munich, Germany. In the context of the IEC 63075 test standard, this demonstrator serves as a qualification test to qualify the used materials, processes and designs for further use in commercial applications
