PCA plot of 16 morphometric measurements (represented in dimensions one and two) taken on 435 female barn owl museum specimens from three different species units: Tyto alba; T. furcata; and T. javanica (nalba=120, n furcata=236, n javanica=79). Concentration ellipses are plotted around units' mean points. Tyto alba, T. furcata, and T. javanica were all significantly different from each other (PERMANOVA, p=0.001, F=237.12, R2=0.523; Pairwise Adonis, javanica vs alba: padj=0.003, F=17.62, R2= 0.082; javanica vs furcata: padj=0.003, F=244.39, R2=0.438; furcata vs alba: padj=0.003, F=276.08, R2= 0.438). Most primary feather lengths and wrist-to-tip length were highly correlated with each other and the first dimension. Because of the high presence of wing morphometrics in dimension one, this dimension represented the wing morphology of the three species units. Minimum tarsus width, culmen length, and hallux talon length contributed the most to dimension two.
