Exploring QCD and Heavy Flavor Physics at ATLAS

Production of multiple jets or vector bosons plus jets at the LHC provides an unprecedented opportunity to study Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) in the high-energy regime. As experimental precision continues to improve, new insights emerge from analyses of topological configurations between vector bosons and jets, jet substructure properties, and heavy-flavor components. These studies play a crucial role in refining our understanding of QCD dynamics and in providing precise determinations of the strong coupling constant. Complementing these efforts, recent ATLAS results on heavy-flavor hadron physics from Run-2 and early Run-3 data further deepen our knowledge of heavy-flavor production, spectroscopy, and decay processes. Together, these measurements offer a comprehensive view of QCD phenomena, connecting jet and vector boson production with the intricate behavior of heavy-flavor hadrons in proton–proton collisions at the LHC.
