gnames: A fast scientific name verification service

GNames provides accurate and fast verification of scientific names in unlimited quantities. It supports exact and fuzzy matching of input strings to scientific names aggregated from a large number of biodiversity data-sources, returning matched names, synonyms, taxonomic status, classification, and vernacular names. It also supports a Reconciliation API for integration with tools like OpenRefine.
