Determination of chlorpheniramine maleate via the new approach of ion pair/turbidimetric reaction with continuous flow injection analysis, and validated by UV-Vis spectrophotometry

Chlorpheniramine maleate was analyzed using an AYAH 6SX1-1D instrument to develop a turbidimetric continuous-flow injection method (T-CFIA) based on its reaction with sodium tungstate dihydrate as a precipitating reagent in an acidic medium. The physical and chemical parameters were optimized, establishing a linear range of 0.6-30 mmol L-1, a limit of detection (LOD) of 250 nmol L-1, and a repeatability relative standard deviation percentage of <0.5%. A comparative analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at λmax = 265 nm revealed no significant difference at the 95% confidence level, demonstrating the reliability of the proposed method for detecting chlorpheniramine maleate. The paired t-test showed that the developed method is comparable to UV-Vis spectrophotometry, confirming its reliability for determining chlorpheniramine maleate. The developed method was applied to determine chlorpheniramine maleate in three pharmaceutical samples. This method offers a sensitive and accurate approach to determining chlorpheniramine maleate.
