Consistency of Manager and Employee Values as a Factor in Employee Satisfaction and Loyalty

The author presents an empirical test of one of the theoretical and methodological assumptions regarding the relationship between employee loyalty and job satisfaction. Although many concepts link satisfaction and loyal-ty directly, it is believed that this relationship is mediated by the individual’s orientation as part of the subject of professional activity, namely, values. This understanding fits well with the hypothesis of possible differences in the manifestation of loyalty and the level of job satisfaction between employees whose values are aligned with those of management and those whose values are inconsistent. The article presents the results of an empirical test of this hypothesis on one team within a retail chain. It was found that employees whose values are aligned with those of their management demonstrate higher levels of loyalty and job satisfaction than employees whose values are inconsistent with those of their management.
