Low-protein diets (LPDs) are recommended for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the efficacy and safety of LPDs in patients with CKD are not clear. Moreover, in most clinical trials, patients have difficulty adhering to dietary protein restriction. Rice, a major staple food worldwide, is the most consumed plant protein source in Asia.
