Follicular Porokeratosis Limited to the Scalp is Associated With Alopecia. A Case Report

Follicular porokeratosis represents a rare variant of porokeratosis, distinguished histologically by the presence of cornoid lamella confined to the follicular infundibulum. We report a case of alopecia secondary to follicular porokeratosis confined to the scalp, which has been rarely reported in the literature. This report aims to raise awareness of follicular porokeratosis as a potential cause of alopecia, and to prompt pathologists to examine the epidermis for porokeratosis in biopsies for alopecia in which a cause is not identifiable otherwise.
