Refractive index of seawater - NCN grant - 2023/49/B/ST10/02193

Refractive index measurements were performed using a Schmidt+Haensch ATR-L refractometer. This instrument enables spectral measurement of refractive index as a function of temperature. Measurement ranges and accuracies meet the manufacturer's specifications (refractive index: range 1.33200 - 1.70000; precision: +-0.00004; temperature: range 10°C - 80°C, precision: +-0.03°C). Measurements were conducted at the Physics Depatment Laboratory at the Gdynia Maritime University. Data were saved in ODS format and subjected to standard quality control, including regular control measurements of distilled water. Measurements were made at wavelengths 365, 440, 520, 590, 670, 750 and 850nm for temperatures of 10 and 20 Celsius degrees and repeated at least 3 times at each temperature.
