The possibilities of multi-day ECG monitoring in the diagnosis of syncopal conditions

This article discusses the place of extended ECG monitoring in the diagnosis of the causes of syncopal conditions. The remote ECG recording method, like telemedicine, is designed to solve one of the most urgent tasks of cardiology – the detection of life-threatening, transient rhythm and conduction disturbances. Currently, manufacturers offer various device options, both invasive and non-invasive. The ability to detect rhythm disturbances or transient blockages immediately at the time of their occurrence significantly increases the sensitivity of ECG monitoring in the diagnosis of cardiogenic causes of syncopal conditions. The analysis of current studies devoted to evaluating the effectiveness of multi-day ECG monitoring and its advantages over traditional 24-72 Holter ECG monitoring is carried out. It is emphasized that the implantation of an electrocardiogram loop recorder is considered the most sensitive method for diagnosing cardiogenic causes of syncope .
