Design and Performance Evaluation of Microstrip Patch Antenna for 5G Applications

In this study, a microstrip patch antenna is designed for 5G applications and is presented, with a resonance frequency of 3.33 GHz. The antenna, created with CST Microwave Studio and built on a FR4-lossy substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.3, is suitable for satellite and WiMAX communications. The square patch features three well-positioned slots, which enhance the antenna's electromagnetic performance. The slots measure 12mm x 30mm, 12mm x 8mm, and 12mm x 12mm, and are crucial for optimizing impedance matching, bandwidth, and radiation characteristics. The fully grounded patch ensures a broader bandwidth, and the antenna achieves a high gain of 7.63 dBi, a return loss of -28.457 dB, and a VSWR of 1.467. The simulation results confirm the antenna's potential for 5G applications, enabling fast data transfer and reliable communication. The proposed antenna is a viable option for 5G-enabled devices due to its compact size, high gain, and low return loss, addressing the need for efficient and space-saving solutions in modern wireless communication systems.
