Abstract

Oral semaglutide (Wegovy) is the first oral glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist to be approved for weight loss. Warnings and adverse effects remain the same for oral semaglutide as for subcutaneous semaglutide. Nurses should teach patients how to take oral semaglutide daily to promote absorption of the drug and prevent drug interactions.
