Optimization of dynamic characteristics and vibration isolation control for bell plate magnetorheological fluid mount

Abstract Addressing the challenge that existing magnetorheological(MR) fluid mounts struggle to simultaneously achieve low-frequency vibration isolation and high-frequency dynamic hardening suppression under wide-band excitation, this study proposes a composite MR fluid mount integrating multiple controllable inertial channels, a squeeze mode, and a bell plate structure. This design achieves broadband adjustable stiffness and damping through an inertial channel with independent control via multiple magnetic circuits. Enhanced low-frequency damping is achieved using a squeeze mode, effectively suppressing high-frequency dynamic hardening through the bell plate structure. The study first completed magnetic circuit design and experimental verification of Z-shaped channel switching, established a mechanical model of the mount, and analyzed its dynamic stiffness and loss angle characteristics. Building upon this foundation, an adaptive switching control strategy was developed by integrating a 1/4-car model with multi-objective transmission rate optimization. The results indicate that this mount enables effective control of dynamic characteristics within the 0-50Hz frequency range, exhibiting high stiffness and high damping characteristics in the 0-10Hz frequency band. The proposed adaptive switching controller achieves over 20% improvement in vibration isolation performance compared to traditional control methods. It adapts to all road conditions and engine excitation, delivering optimal vibration isolation results.
