Studies on the Antithrombotic, Antioxidant, and Hemocompatible Activities of Metabolites Derived from Bacterial Endophytes Inhabiting Alliaria petiolata L.

This study was aimed to investigate the antithrombotic, antioxidant, and hemocompatible activities of secondary metabolites generated by bacterial endophytes found in root samples of Alliaria petiolata L. The gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) methods were used to identify the secondary metabolites. The extract of crude secondary metabolites from two isolates, strains AP3 and AP4, showed strong (p < 0.05) antioxidant, hemagglutination, antithrombotic, and anti-hemolytic properties. These isolates were identified as Bacillus paramycoides AP3 and Bacillus nitratireducens AP4. GC-MS analysis of secondary metabolites from strain AP3 revealed the presence of 20 compounds, with the main compounds being hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester, bromocriptine, pentadecanoic acid, and azacyclodecan-2,7-dione. Strain AP4 produced 14 compounds with main compounds being tetradecanoic acid, 2-piperidinone, and pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine-1,4-dione,hexahydro-3-(2-methylpropyl). Bacterial endophytes inhibiting A. petiolata L. may offer a platform for the possible exploration of new anticoagulants, antioxidants, and anti-hemolytic compounds in the future.
