Guidelines for Human– <scp>AI</scp> Interaction and User Experience

We are in an AI summer that is characterized by rapid advancements in AI technology. AI systems have impressive capabilities and risks. In this chapter, we look at social needs, as expressed in laws in China, the European Union, and the United States, and derive eleven common social needs. Six of the common social needs—(1) Effective, robustness, accuracy, safety, security; 2) Ethical use; 3) Product quality over product lifecycle; 4) Human oversight; 5) Explainability and trustworthiness; 6) Diversity, fairness, impartiality, privacy, health—are discussed in more detail and some guidelines are presented.
